This paper focuses on resource use efficiency of Bambara-nut production in Nigeria. It was therefore intended to determine the socio-economic factors that affect Bambara-nut production and estimates the resource use efficiency of Bambara nut production in the study area. Purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of respondents and data were collected with the aid of structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and stochastic production frontier were the tools employed for the analysis. Result of the socio-economic characteristics revealed that 64% of the respondents were females while 36% were males. The study went further to reveal that 63% of the respondents had a farm size of less than 1ha due to preponderance of land tenure system. The stochastic production frontier result showed that farm size, fertilizer and labour positively influenced output of Bambaranut whereas capital was negatively associated with it. The farmers were fairly technically efficient as their average technical efficiency stood at 0.8970 (89%). As regard allocative efficiency, farm size and fertilizer were found to be underutilized while labour and capital were over utilized. The study therefore recommended that relevant policies that improve access to land and inputs such as fertilizer should be promoted in order to obtain maximum output.
